[10min Gallery Talk] 1/10(wed)・1/12(fri)：Nokan
The transverse flute is used in Noh music. It is the only melody instrument used on stage. It looks similar to the Ryubue, one of the transverse flutes used in Gagaku (ancient Japanese court music), but the crucial difference is that it has a device called a "nodo" inside the pipe. This device produces a unique tone and musical scale.
